Treatment of Central Serous Retinopathy

A 43 years old female, with no major systemic illness, came to us with a complaint of dimness of vision in the right eye for 2 weeks. Her vision in the right eye was around 25 %. With the help of retinal examination, we found fluid around the macula (Central most part of our retina which is responsible for central vision), which was confirmed on OCT as CSR. (Central Serous Retinopathy). On eliciting a further relevant history we came to know that she lost her young son in a road accident around 2 months back, which stressed her and led her to this condition.

Thus stress is one of the major and most common risk factors responsible for CSR. Other risk factors also include Diabetes, hypertension, long use of steroids, obesity, pregnancy, any autoimmune diseases etc.

Within 2 weeks we successfully managed to return her vision to 100% with the help of non-surgical treatment which helped to absorb the fluid present in her retina.
